Moving postcard: African Renaissance Monument

by Pipo

The African Renaissance Monument stands on the Collines des Mamelles hill in Dakar, Senegal. It’s a 49 meter high statue, thereby the highest in Africa to this moment, that is supposed to represent the African renaissance.

It has been unveiled in 2010 after quite some controversy, drawing the bad feelings of citizens. It is clearly one of the main sights in Dakar and allows a beautiful view on the neighboring landscapes and the sea.
